Learn about the histories, contributions, and lived experiences of those around us, as we uplift voices and explore stories that serve as mirrors of our lives and windows into different experiences.

Join us and learn about the histories, contributions, and lived experiences of those around us as we uplift community voices and explore stories that act as mirrors of our own lives and windows into experiences different from our own.

With origins stretching very far back in Japan, the furoshiki is a multi-purpose cloth that, with a few simple knots, can be used to carry almost anything it can wrap around - books, bottles, watermelons, groceries, and other objects. It also makes for effective and stylish wrapping cloth when giving gifts to others. Currently experiencing a renaissance in Japan as a way of avoiding plastic bags and being environmentally sound, the furoshiki's versatility makes it possible to safely carry and transport things everywhere. Only two knots are necessary to unlock this skill.

This program is presented by the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle.
