Kids make and decorate their own paper rockets and launch them from PVC pipe launchers powered by stomping on 2-liter plastic bottles.

The program will be held in the grass field of Peninsula Christian Fellowship, the church adjacent to the Gig Harbor Library. To enter the field from the library parking lot, look for the orange traffic cones and follow the path.

Safety Precautions

Masks required in library buildings (5 and older). Following Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department’s directive and the State of Washington’s order, the Pierce County Library Library System requires the public and staff, regardless of vaccination, to wear masks to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Children ages 2-4 are strongly encouraged to wear a mask per the Department of Health. Also, per public health directives, masks are required outdoors where physical distancing isn’t possible.

The event will be outdoors and might be in the sun, participants should prepare for being in the sun/the current weather. In the event of inclement weather (excessive heat, smoke, rain, etc. the event will be cancelled, note there is a virtual option for this program on Thursdays at 4pm.)

There will be limited seating for this outdoor event (there will be some chairs for adults though)!
