The Tacoma City Ballet and Tacoma Opera present Carmina Burana. Come meet the Tacoma City Ballet Director and several ballet dancers in costume.

The Tacoma City Ballet and the Tacoma Opera unite to present Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Join us at the University Place library for a pre-performance meet & greet. Longtime Tacoma City Ballet Executive and Artistic Director, Miss Erin M. Ceragioli will share information about Carmina Burana and her ballet company. Several ballet dancers will be in costume for the casual meet & greet.

Carmina Burana will be performed at the Pantages Theater at 2 PM on February 11th & 12th, 2023.

Tacoma City Ballet’s Carmina Burana is a neo-classical ballet set to the extraordinary collection of medieval poems and songs compiled in a 13th century manuscript that was discovered in the library of the ancient Abbey of Benediktbeuern in Upper Bavaria in 1803. These ancient poems and songs written by monks and wandering scholars are full of earthy, lusty sentiments highlighting the forces of nature at work upon mankind. In 1935, Carl Orff composed a score to this collection of poems and songs, which requires Soloists, and both an Adult and a Children’s Chorus. Orff always intended that his Carmina Burana be presented on stage with dancers, as well. Tacoma City Ballet’s Carmina Burana presents an exquisite palette of color symbolizing all the inscrutable and mysterious forces governed by Lady Fortune that exude their influences over mankind. Join Tacoma City Ballet for this epic choreography in collaboration with the Tacoma Opera, in the magnificent Pantages Theater for an exhilarating experience for every lover of dance.  https://www.tacomacityballet.com/performance-season/
